Families have been forced to wait up to three hours for a single ride at one of Australia's most popular theme parks after coughing up hundreds of dollars on entry during school holidays.
A one-day pass for two adults and two children at Warner Brothers Movie World costs an astonishing $416 - while a Fast Track ticket to skip queues is priced at $149 each - making the theme park an extremely expensive day out.
Furious parents have taken to social media to vent their frustration after arriving at the park during the recent school break to find closed rides, huge crowds and excessive queues. 
'I'd really think twice before spending a day here (Movie World).

For the hundreds of dollars spent to get into the park, we've been on one ride and midway through a 2 hour wait for a second and it's 1pm,' one parent posted to .

Waste of a day and a lot of money. Absolutely the worst theme park experience I've had.'

Holiday makers have posted images of wait times displayed on signs outside ride lines, with warnings of queues up to 180minutes for the most popular attractions.
Aussies from around the country flock to the Gold Coast to visit its range of theme parks, but families were left outraged by the number of people allowed in during the holidays.
'I really find it quite disappointing that you don't cap crowd numbers.

We came from inter state for a visit today paying in excess of $500 as a family to only manage 5 rides ALLLL (sic) day!' one parent posted on social media.
'Couldn't get to either the stunt show or street parade because we spent HOURS (sic) queuing for the rides.
I get there are busy times but 140 minute + (sic) wait for rides is absurd.'

Movie World's Twitter account has been flooded with complaints about wait times, with people saying they had queued for much longer than the advertised duration.

Another said: 'Twenty years ago you could go on a tour through the movie studio and there was so much more to Movie world!! We will never be back.'
Others arrived in September to find many of Movie World's most popular rides, including the Green Lantern and Scooby Doo attractions, were shut down.
The result was lines for its other marquee features, including the Superman Escape, were well in excess of two hours.
'Absolutely appalling.

Avoid this place like the plague unless given guarantees. 27 very disappointed school kids and 3 adults,' a mother said.

A family from Tasmania made the trip up to the Gold Coast to visit the Village Roadshow theme parks, which includes Movie World, Sea World and Wet and Wild - only to be left bitterly disappointed.
'The majority of rides were under maintenance, not open, there were then over 2 hour wait times for the small amount of rides open including the Superman roller coaster and the virtual queues were always full,' the mother-of-two from Tassie wrote.
'We kept checking on the Scooby Doo and we kept being told it may open soon and they kept telling us we could wait in line, we waited in line several times and it never opened.
'You shouldn't have been charging full price when more than half your rides were down.'

A spokesperson for Village Roadshow Theme Parks said it was seeing high numbers of people attending during school holidays, but suggested ride maintenance was day by day.
'We are experiencing a strong school holidays period with crowd numbers on par with pre-Covid visitation. For the school holidays we have extended our operating hours at Movie World and added an additional parade alongside extra shows and entertainment options throughout the park,' the spokesman said.
'We understand attraction closures and extended ride queues are not ideal for our guests and strive to provide the best possible guest experience, and we encourage our guests to visit our websites and download the in-park App to help best plan their visit.'
